How to post

In How To, Sarah on April 22, 2009 at 9:53 am

We’d like to use this site to post articles, comments, thoughts, and anything else we think might be of use to one another or any readers.  To do this, you’ll need to click on the “Log In” link on this page, using the User ID and password you’ll have received, and then click on “New Post” at the top left of the page.  Then, just follow the guidelines and write to your heart’s content!

Click on the “Read More and Comment” link below for more tips on How to Post!

Now – you just clicked on a “More” link to get to the rest of this post.  That’s important if you’re writing something long – you can split your post into multiple pages.  You can do this by clicking on the button in the menu above called “Insert More Tag”, or by pressing Alt+Shift+T.  If you’re still unsure, this page

will tell you more!

A word of advice: you can make your article much more friendly if you add “Tags” and “Categories” using the functions on the “Add New Post” page.  They’re not quite the same thing.

“Categories” are formal, high-level groupings of content, things like “Fiction”, “Non-Fiction”, “General”, “News Item”, and so on.  Although you can add your own, let’s keep them under control – I’ll add a handful to start with, and if you want to add any, send an email to everyone first and let’s decide if it’s necessary.  Otherwise we’ll end up with hundreds of Categories – and suddenly they’re less than useful!

“Tags”, on the other hand – feel free!  These can be anything you like – “conspiracy theory”, “favourite recipe”, “reminiscences”, and so on.  Add these however you like – they’re a way to loosely group articles by notional colour, rather than a formal category.

If you’re unsure, select two Categories – one for your name, and one which best describes what you’ve written, and leave the “Tags” section blank.  You can always change it later!

That’s it!  Any questions, drop me (Sarah) a line, or add a question as a “Comment” below this article!
